Marty: Office Manager

Marty is a native Michigander who grew up in Redford Township, but spent most of her adult life in the South. She began working in dentistry nearly 40 years ago, and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the office. Marty has worked as a chairside assistant, receptionist, accounts manager, treatment coordinator, and office manager in various offices throught her career. Marty has been with Berkman & Shapiro Orthodontics since the office was first opened, and features one of the many smiling faces you will see upon your first visit to the office.

Marty's activites have not always been limited to dentistry and orthodontics, however. She has held positions from flight attendant to licensed real estate salesperson, and has also lived in Texas and Alaska! In her spare time Marty enjoys reading, cooking and traveling. She is married, the mother of three grown children, and the grandmother to one adorable granddaughter!

Michelle:  Treatment Coordinator

Michelle has lived in the Livingston County area the majority of her life.  She began working in orthodontics nearly a decade ago, and prior to that worked as a teacher in the public school system.  Michelle is a wonderful educator, and firmly believes in the importance of patient and parent education throughout the orthodontic process.  About helping to orient new patients to the orthodontic experience, she often declares, "No questions go unanswered!" 

She is married to her husband, Dennis, who is a massage therapist by profession.  Together, they have three grown children.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, taking long walks with her two Jack Russell Terriers (Buddy and Otis) and cooking.

Jennifer:  Patient Coordinator

Jennifer is originally from Rochester, Michigan and is a graduate of Rochester Adams High School.  She has worked in the dental field for 14 years, as an orthodontic chairside assistant, receptionist, surgical assistant, and consultant with new patients.  She also worked as a director of special community outreach programs which promoted good oral hygiene.   Her knowledge of procedures along with her charismatic personality helps inform patients while making them feel comfortable and excited about embarking on a path to a new smile.

Outside of her activities with our office, she enjoys spending time with her husband, four children, and two dogs.  She also enjoys cooking, vacationing, and exercising.  One of her favorite places to relax is on the lake or beach...with a good magazine!

Vanessa: Treatment Coordinator

Vanessa grew up in Clarkston, MI and graduated from Moore Academy in 2000. She has worked in the dental field for over 10 years as both an orthodontic assistant and treatment coordinator. She has also worked in the community as an educator, helping the public to better understand the value of oral health. At Berkman + Shapiro Orthodontics, Vanessa loves being involved with all of the fabulous smiles that are created for our patients.

Outside of the office Vanessa enjoys spending time with her daughter, training for duathlons, fishing, shopping, spending time on the lake, and traveling.

Stephanie: Scheduling Coordinator and Orthodontic Assistant

Stephanie grew up in the Milford area with her four brothers and two sisters. She graduated from Milford High School in 2003 and first worked in the hospitality industry, where she met her husband, Steven.
 
Stephanie and Steven currently reside in Highland with their three furry children ­ Jose the Chihuahua, Ginger the �Mutt� and Java the cat.  Since her husband is an executive chef, one of her favorite activities is helping him to create culinary masterpieces at home.  Some of her other hobbies include reading, singing, shopping and spending time with her family.
 
Stephanie enjoys seeing smiling faces every day, but she truly loves seeing a patients right after their braces are removed, She explains, �It�s such a big day for them! They are always sooooooo happy!  I love that we were a part of that.�

Candice: Orthodontic Assistant

Candice was born and raised in Royal Oak, Michigan. In 1999, she moved to West Bloomfield.  A graduate of Walled Lake Central High school, this is her fifth year working in orthodontics.  She attends classes part-time at Oakland Community College, and enjoys spending time with family and friends during her free time.  About working with patients, she says, "I love to see the changes that take place in people's smiles so quickly!  It�s wonderful to see everyone�s reactions when they see how fast their teeth are actually straightening."

Anna: Orthodontic Assistant

Anna has lived in Livonia, Michigan for most of her life. A graduate of Redford Union high school, she has been in the orthodontic field for 10 years. Her orthodontic experiences include positions as a receptionist, in the laboratory, and as a chairside assistant. About working with patients, she says, "I love working chairside. It gives me time to get to know the patients and help them achieve the perfect smile."

While not working, Anna enjoys spending time with her daughter, family, and friends. She has 2 pets: a white lipped tree frog (named Verdi) and a golden gecko (named Mojo). She also enjoys fishing, swimming, iceskating, reading, board games, and any outdoor activity.

Lindsay: Orthodontic Assistant

Lindsay grew up in Clarkston, MI and graduated from Clarkston High School in 2003. She began her studies for Dental Hygiene at Oakland Community College (OCC) and is a lso graduate of the Dental Assisting program at OCC.  About working in orthodontics, she says, �I love that making beautiful smiles also makes healthy smiles.  A perfect smile should last forever!�

While not working, Lindsay enjoys spending her time exploring photography, spending time with family and friends, and scrapbooking.  She enjoys relaxing at home with her husband and her two very spoiled dogs, Tanner (a Golden Retriever and Trooper (a Black Lab).  Whenever she can get away for a quick vacation, she can usually be found on location at her family's cabin near Houghton Lake, Michigan.
